We have just returned from a painting trip – a cruise into the breathtaking scenery of the fjords in Norway. This was something that I have always wanted to do and I have to say the beauty of it all was beyond my expectations. So awe-inspiring was it all that at the moment I am still trying to take it all in as I go over it in my mind. On top of all that, the weather was too perfect to be true – bright sunshine that made the crisp and clear air sparkle. I hurriedly painted a little on location but our itinerary didn’t really allow for much. I now look forward to revisiting those glorious scenes on canvas at my leisure in the studio.

In October we travelled to Brittany staying near Dinan. I made several small oil sketches at various sites around Corseul where we stayed, at Mont St Michel, and Along the River Rance at Dinan, where I was particularly excited by the beautiful poplars on the banks with their autumnal tints.

Since returning I have been working on some paintings of the River Rance at Dinan as well as various commissioned paintings which needed seeing to.
